At Independent Capacity System, Inc. our purpose is to create a learning environment that addresses each individual’s functioning level. Our program will engage them in therapeutic skill building activities that will enable them to function more independently in their community.
Our typical process consists of training individuals in functional skills for a portion of the week (Center Based) and then supporting while they participate in activities in the community during the second portion of the week (Community Based).
We aim to help our individuals master the essential skills needed to accomplish practical life tasks. These include functional reading (known as survival reading for awareness), fundamental writing, and basic arithmetic (for money management, etc.).
Additionally, through the tailored curriculum design of our program, individuals have the opportunity to work and improve in the areas of:
- Self-care skills
- Housekeeping Skills
