Job Title: Therapeutic Facilitator Assistant

Immediate Supervisor: Therapeutic Facilitator

Position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all services offered to each individual. All of the support positions share common responsibilities and performance expectations.  However, the primary focus of each position is somewhat different; actual responsibilities may vary slightly.  Under general supervision, position plans and implements activity plans for each individual in the program.  Assess each individual’s abilities in regard to reaching their outcomes and desired outcomes listed in the day support portion of the Plan of Support.  Develops, plans and implements activity plans that meet identified outcomes which incorporate the individual’s behavioral characteristics and abilities.  Documents and evaluates student progress.  Leads the work of Facilitator Assistant, who assists with the planning and implementation of daily activity plans.

Tasks:

  • Assist with the implementation of daily program structure (review books, MAR; notify TF of any oversights)
  • Provide direct supervision with the daily operations of assigned group, which involves ensuring a safe and supportive environment for the individuals
  • Provide direct support to individual behaviors within the support room or other settings
  • Document daily in the support log  each individual’s academic abilities and needs, and determine related goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with TF to arrive at resolutions for any major issues
  • Conduct thorough daily audit of individual charts and MAR
  • Implement activity plans which will support and reinforce desired behavior and targeted academic principles
  • Give insight on each individual to help TF prepare for treatment team meetings to discuss individual’s needs, issues, progress, Plan of Support modification, etc.
  • Document and report on each individual with regard to outcomes, desired outcomes  daily and quarterly
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies/ behavioral plans as needed
  • Document and report all incidents in accordance with policies and procedures and immediately notify TF
  • Ensure the support room is maintained, clean and safe
  • Provide direct supervision and support when taking individual into the community for special events or learning experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification or Standards Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Physical Requirements: Must be able to operate a variety of office machines to include: computers, calculators, copier and facsimile.  Must be able to operate and manipulate a variety of resources, materials and supplies.  Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pound of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Work demands are for light work.  As needed, must be able to physically assist in crisis interventions which may involve physical contact/activity to help deescalate an individual from causing harm to themselves, property and/or others.

Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people or things.

Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information.  Includes receiving instructions from immediate supervisor.

Language Ability: Requires the ability to read policy manuals, reference manuals, program report, individual reports and other program related documentations.  Requires the ability to prepare Plan of Supports outcomes and desired outcomes, ABC sheets, progress reports, incident reports, memorandums, correspondence and other program related documents using proper format.

Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in writing, oral, diagrammatic or schedule form.

Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions.  Must be able to communicate effectively using academic, therapeutic, rehabilitative and administrative terminology.

Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to compute basic math.

Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instruction.  Must be adaptable to performing under considerable levels of stress.

Quality of Work: Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities.  Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of responsibility.  Maintains high quality communication and interacts within the organization, and with co-workers and the general public.
